A Clear Guide to
At Topsmiles Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics, we know you want your child’s smile to be bright, happy, and healthy. That's why Dr. Alvaro Salles offers clear aligners, a modern solution to achieving a confident smile. Let’s talk a bit more about what they are, how they work, and who they’re for.
Clear Aligners – What Are They?
Clear aligners are a series of custom-made, nearly invisible trays that fit over your teeth to gently shift them into the desired position. Made of clear plastic, your child should wear their aligners at least 22 hours a day, only removed for eating, brushing, and flossing.
Each aligner is slightly different from the previous one, gradually moving your child’s teeth into the desired position until their smile is perfect. Clear aligners are great for a variety of orthodontic problems, including overcrowding, gaps, and bite issues.
How Do Clear Aligners Work?
We use advanced 3D imaging technology to create a personalized treatment plan for your child. You’ll consult with Dr. Alvaro Salles, then they’ll examine your child’s teeth and create a digital model of their mouth.
We’ll use the model to create a series of aligners for your child to wear over a period of several months. Each aligner applies gentle pressure to the teeth, slowly moving them into the desired position.
You will need to visit our Winnipeg office every six to eight weeks for a check-up and to receive your child’s new set.
You can expect treatment to last between six and eighteen months, depending on the severity of your child’s orthodontic issues.
Braces vs. Clear Aligners
Both options are great, but there are some differences.
Braces are made of metal brackets that are glued to your teeth and connected by wires. They are adjusted every few weeks to gradually move teeth into the desired position.
Clear aligners, on the other hand, are removable and nearly invisible. They require less maintenance and are more comfortable to wear than braces. They also allow your child to eat and drink their favorite foods, unlike braces, which have food restrictions.
Clear aligners are a great option for patients who are self-conscious about wearing braces, as they are virtually invisible.
How Much Do Clear Aligners Cost?
The cost of clear aligners varies depending on the severity of your child’s orthodontic issues and the length of your treatment. At Topsmiles Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics, we’re proud to offer flexible payment options, and we accept most insurance plans.
We believe that everyone deserves a healthy, confident smile, and we will work with you to find a payment plan that fits your budget.
Who Do Clear Aligners Work Best for?
Clear aligners are a great option for patients of all ages who want to achieve a straighter smile without the discomfort and appearance of traditional braces. They are especially popular with teenagers and adults who are self-conscious about their appearance.
Patients who play contact sports or musical instruments especially love them, as they do not pose a risk of injury or interfere with playing.
